First week writing about how it’s going. To start it off, it’s been great and a lot of fun. I started this week by going on Duolingo and it turns out I already had an account and was a few units into Spanish. I remember doing it when I was in grade 6 but did not think I made it that far. I went back to try and restart but it wouldn’t let me, but instead told me to “master” these sections. I decided to give it a shot knowing I would have no clue what’s going on but then to my surprise I aced it (or as Duolingo would say I “mastered” it.) I was so shocked that I remembered so much but at the same time so happy because then I knew I was not really starting at square 1. The first few units are quite basic stuff about people and things but I think it’s good to know those to create sentences. It also taught me things like “ I am wearing a shirt” which is so random but it’s the words that are actually important because we use “ I am”  all the time. I decided to just keep trying to master these sections to get a quick refresh on the subjects. Once I got enough knowledge to keep going I started with the next level I needed to complete. The next unit was unit 3 which has the title of “Describe your family. Shop for clothes”. In each unit there are little sections that help you learn new words by reading, writing and speaking. You have to just keep repeating them as repetition is the most important thing for learning a new language. I ended up getting a 10 question streak on this little mini section which is really awesome to see. The next step will be to start trying to speak it more and not just memorize pictures and words.  As always, hasta la prĂłxima vez!
